David Swain has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the scuba diving murder of his wife Shelly Tyre. In 1999 Swain and Tyre went on a scuba diving expedition in the British Virgin Islands were prosecutors say that David tore off his wife Shelly Tyre breathing apparatus and shut off her air supply. In 2006 Shelly Tyre family sued David Swain in a wrongful death lawsuit which the jury awarded the Tyre family with a $3.5 million settlement although Swain declared bankruptcy and has not paid any money to the Tyre family.
